GLOUCESTER — Chief Edward Conley reports that the Gloucester Police Department is still actively investigating the case of a missing woman, and is seeking the public’s help in locating her.
Abbie Flynn, 59, of Gloucester, went missing on Sunday afternoon after going on a walk in the Farrington Avenue area. She was last seen at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.
On Monday, Feb. 3, an extensive search of the area was conducted with the assistance of the Gloucester Fire Department, U.S. Coast Guard Station Gloucester, Mass State Police, Mass Environmental Police, Gloucester Harbor Master, Rockport Harbor Master and the North Eastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council.
Authorities searched the many paths and woods around the area where Flynn went missing, along with a thorough search of the coastline.
Although the ground and water search has been suspended, the case remains an active investigation at this time. K9 officers and Gloucester officers will continue to search the area over the next several days.
The Gloucester Police Department has no reason to believe any foul play was involved.
Flynn has brown hair and was last seen possibly wearing a blue puffy jacket.
If anyone sees someone who is matching Flynn’s description or has any information as to her whereabouts, they are urged to call the Gloucester Police Department at 978-283-1212.
