ACTON — Chief Richard Burrows reports that the Acton Police Department is actively investigating several recent break-ins at businesses in a concentrated area of town.
On Sunday, Jan. 19, at 9:28 p.m., Acton Police were dispatched to Acton Convenience, 465 Great Road for a report of a break-in. During a subsequent investigation, Acton Police determined that an unknown male suspect broke the glass front door of the store before making entry.
Last night’s break-in is similar to three others that have taken place at businesses along Great Road in the last five months. Like the most recent one, all are believed to have taken place in the late evening and early morning hours, with the individual or individuals responsible breaking the glass at the businesses’ front entrances.
The previous break-ins were reported:
- Dec. 25 at 9:36 a.m. at Marx Running and Fitness, 423 Great Road
- Oct. 9 at 6:55 a.m. at Acton Dry Cleaners, 427 Great Road
- Aug. 22 at 4:45 a.m. at Pro Tech Gas Station, 336 Great Road
In each instance, an individual took an undisclosed quantity of cash from the businesses’ cash regusters. In the case of the Oct. 9 break-in, the suspect took the entire register in addition to the cash inside. In the Dec. 25 break-in, the suspect took gift cards to that business in addition to cash.
Acton Police continue to investigate all four incidents, and wish to remind residents and business owners to call 911 if they see anything they believe may be suspicious.
Anyone who believes they may have information about any of these incidents is encouraged to call Acton Police Detectives at 978-929-7713.
Each of these incidents remains under investigation.
