DRACUT — Police Chief Peter Bartlett wishes to inform the community that the Dracut Police Department will be offering pink Dracut Police patches throughout October, with proceeds going to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Dracut Police Department is among departments taking part in the Pink Patch Project — a nationwide effort among police to raise awareness of breast cancer, the importance of early detection, and funds to aid research and recovery.
Chief Bartlett has authorized officers to wear the pink Dracut Police patch on their uniforms throughout October. This is the first year Dracut Police have taken part in the project.
Police are also sharing the patches with members of the public for $10 each, with all proceeds going to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston.
“A breast cancer diagnosis can be devastating for an entire family, so those of us at the Dracut Police Department want to do our part to help raise awareness of the importance of early detection, and funds to aid research into treatments and care,” Chief Bartlett said. “Please join us as we work to support those in our community who could really use our help.”
Dracut Police pink patches can be purchased at several local businesses, or by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope and a $10 donation to the Dracut Police Pink Patch Project, 110 Loon Hill Road, Dracut, MA 01826.
