Blue Hills Regional Technical School Investigating After Student Brings Pellet Gun, Live Bullet to School
CANTON — Superintendent Jill Rossetti reports that a Blue Hills Regional Technical School freshman student brought a pellet gun and a live round of ammunition to school Tuesday.
At this time, there is no danger to the school community, and no threats have been made. Both items have been placed in custody of the Canton Police Department.
At approximately 1:10 p.m., a school official was notified by multiple students that a male student may possibly be in possession of a firearm. The Canton Police Department was notified immediately and responded to the school promptly.
School officials pulled the student out of class and a black pellet gun was found inside his backpack. The pellet gun was extremely realistic in appearance. A round of live ammunition was also found on the student.
Blue Hills Regional Technical School and the Canton Police Department are actively investigating the incident. The student will face discipline in accordance with the school’s student code of conduct.
“This is something that we take seriously and I would like to thank Canton Police for their prompt response to the school and launching of their investigation,” Superintendent Rossetti said. “I would like to reassure everyone that there was no threat to the school community and we praise the students who came forward with what they had heard.”
