East Bridgewater Police Department Raises $1,850 for Home Base No Shave
EAST BRIDGEWATER — Chief Scott Allen is pleased to announce that the East Bridgewater Police Department has donated $1,850 to Home Base, a Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital program dedicated to helping veterans and their families, through its No Shave initiative.
Each of the participating officers pledged $100 to Home Base in exchange for month-long waiver from the department policy restricting facial hair growth throughout November.
Home Base is dedicated to helping Sept. 11 service members, veterans and their families who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, have a traumatic brain injury, or other related conditions.
“This year our officers were able to raise more money than last year, and they raised more than their initial 2019 goal,” Chief Allen said. “I am proud of their efforts and this is a great way to raise money for a worthy cause. Having some of our officers go to Fenway today for the closing ceremony helped to cap this fantastic effort.”
This morning, East Bridgewater Police Sgt. Mike McLaughlin, Officer Michael Randall and Officer Patrick O’Brien attended the closing ceremony for Home Base No Shave at Fenway Park.
Those in attendance were able to take pictures with the Red Sox 2018 World Series trophy and were thanked for their donations by Home Base and Red Sox officials.
Last year, EBPD raised $1,425. This year, with the goal of raising $1,750, a total of $1,850 was raised.
