Taunton Police Department Welcomes Six Academy Graduates

TAUNTON — Chief Edward Walsh is pleased to announce that six Taunton Police officers graduated from the Plymouth Police Academy’s 65th Recruit Officer Class at a ceremony in Plymouth today.

Officers Bryant Correy, Jonathan Benson, Matthew Laranjo, Gregory Charette, Marc Charbonneau and Michael Flynn all successfully completed the intensive 26-week program.

The six officers, who are all Taunton natives, will start their shifts as full-time patrolmen on Tuesday.

Two of the officers were recognized for their efforts during the academy. Officer Correy won the best driving award and Officer Laranjo was awarded for giving the most effort consistently throughout the program.

Chief Walsh attended the graduation ceremony, along with several other officers from the department to show their support.

“I am confident that each of these officers will make fine additions to our department,” Chief Walsh said. “They have demonstrated superb work ethic and will serve the city of Taunton with distinction.”
