Bedford Police Arrest Two for Felony Drug Possession
BEDFORD — Chief John J. Bryfonski reports that the Bedford Police Department arrested two people on drug and weapon related charges during an overnight motor vehicle stop.
KYLE MEHLHORN, AGE 23, OF MERRIMACK, who was previously convicted on felony robbery charges in 2014, was charged with:
- Felon in Possession of a Dangerous Weapon (Felony)
- Possession of Controlled Substance/Narcotic Drugs (Felony)
- Carrying a Concealed Handgun without a License (Misdemeanor)
- Driving without Giving Proof (Misdemeanor)
- Possession of Drugs in a Motor Vehicle (Misdemeanor)
- Driving After Revocation or Suspension (Violation)
MEGAN LAVERY, AGE 22, OF CANDIA, was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Just after midnight on Tuesday, Jan. 31, Bedford Police noticed that a white Hyundai Sonata had a taillight out and conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of Route 101 and Jenkins Road. The driver, MEHLHORN, was unable to show proof of his driver’s license to the officer. Bedford Police then confirmed that MEHLHORN’s license had been suspended last year.
Two passengers were also in the car, but neither had a valid driver’s license. After police could not reach the registered owner of the vehicle, officers ordered the car to be towed.
During a tow inventory, officers found a loaded handgun, as well as a plastic bag containing an undisclosed amount of what was believed to be crack cocaine. MEHLHORN was later charged with possession of both items.
Officers had witnessed LAVERY, the front seat passenger, place the bag under the vehicle’s front seat during the motor vehicle stop.
LAVERY was released on $5,000 personal recognizance bail pending her appearance in Merrimack District Court on Thursday, March 9.
MEHLHORN was held at the Hillsborough County House of Corrections pending his arraignment in Merrimack District Court.
