Reading Police Department Investigating Series of House Break-Ins

READING — Chief Mark D. Segalla reports that the Reading Police Department is investigating a residential breaking and entering that occurred at a home on the west side of town yesterday afternoon.

On Tuesday, Nov. 8, between 2-2:45 p.m., police received a report that someone had broken into a home on Prospect Street.

Following an investigation, police determined that the man entered the home through an unlocked front door and took a large amount of jewelry.

The suspect is described as a white/tan skinned male, who is believed to be in his 30s or 40s, and was wearing black jeans, a black fleece or jacket, and carrying a clipboard or small, dark colored satchel.

This is the third residential daytime break-in that has happened in the last 12 days. On Oct. 28, a house was broken into on School Street, and another residence was broken into on Nov. 2 on Lowell Street. In both cases, jewelry was taken from the homes.

Additionally, the suspect matches the description of a person of interest in the break-in on School Street.

Reading Police are encouraging residents to always lock their homes and cars. Anyone who sees a man matching the description of the suspect, or who has information about the break-ins, should immediately contact the Reading Police Department at 781-944-1212.

“Please be vigilant, and if you see something, say something,” Chief Segalla said. “We remind residents to always keep your homes, cars and personal belongings secured to prevent theft.”
