Burlington Police Department Welcomes Two New Officers
BURLINGTON – Chief Michael Kent is pleased to announce that two officers have recently joined the Burlington Police Department.
Officer Lindsay LaPrad was appointed in January 2016 and graduated from the Municipal Police Training Committee Randolph Academy on June 24. She will begin a 12-week field training on June 28.
Officer George D’Amelio was appointed on June 27, and, due to his prior police experience, will begin accelerated field training in late June.
“These new officers bring a vast array of experience and skills to our department,” Chief Kent said. “We are excited to welcome them to the Burlington Police Department, and to watch them continue to develop both personally and professionally.”
Officer LaPrad graduated from Worcester State University in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. She also earned an associate’s degree in intelligence operations from Cochise College in 2013.
She currently serves in the Massachusetts Army National Guard as an All Source Intelligence Analyst, and completed Army Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training in Army Intelligence Operations.
Officer D’Amelio comes to the department from the Somerville Police Department where he worked as a patrolman. He graduated from Shawsheen Valley Vocational Technical High School and is a licensed electrician. He is currently pursuing an associate’s degree in criminal justice at Middlesex Community College. Officer D’Amelio also previously attended the Massachusetts Transit Police Academy, graduating in 2014.
