Concord Police Department Receives Grant for Child Car Safety Equipment
CONCORD, Mass. — Police Chief Joseph O’Connor reports that the Concord Police Department has been awarded a $2,000 grant from the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security Highway Safety Division’s 2015 Child Passenger Safety (CPS) Grant program.
“The Concord Police Department is first and foremost a public safety agency, and keeping young children safe in a vehicle is extremely important,” Chief O’Connor said. “I am very grateful to the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security for funding this worthwhile program.”
The funds from this grant program are allocated to Massachusetts cities and towns with an implemented Child Safety Seat Installation and Inspection program, and they are to be used to purchase Child Passenger Safety Equipment for distribution to parents, families and caregivers of young children who require car seats.
The Concord Police Department has utilized these funds to purchase convertible infant and toddler child safety seats, as well as high back booster seats for older children under 57 inches tall. These newly purchased child safety seats are immediately available to parents, families and caregivers of car seat age children who are in need of assistance in obtaining these items.
The Concord Police Department also has three officers who are certified by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in car seat installation and inspection. We also provide child safety seat installation and inspection services to all members of the public who make up the Concord Community.
“We are proud to be on the cutting edge of child seat safety and are dedicated to keeping our children safe on the road,” said Officer Jeff Young, one of Concord’s car seat-certified officers. “We look forward to the continued success of this program, and as always, are committed to delivering exceptional service to the members of our community.”
