TYNGSBOROUGH — Police Chief Shaun Woods reports that the Tyngsborough Police Department arrested and charged a Haverhill man with several drug offenses after a call about suspicious activity on Halloween night.
LUIS COLLAZO, AGE 27, OF HAVERHILL, was arrested and charged with:
- Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class B Drug
- Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class D Drug
- Possession of Open Containers of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle
On Thursday, Oct. 31, at approximately 11:24 p.m., Tyngsborough Police were called to the area of Longfellow Lane for a report of a suspicious vehicle parked with its lights on.
Officers Olivia King and Travis MacMurdo responded and found an individual later identified as COLLAZO asleep in the driver’s seat of the vehicle. Initial attempts to identify COLLAZO were unsuccessful, but officers eventually determined his identity and learned that he was wanted on three arrest warrants and had a suspended driver’s license.
COLLAZO was placed under arrest on the warrants. Officers then conducted a search of his vehicle. That search located approximately 20 grams of cocaine, approximately 30 ounces of marijuana, packaged edible marijuana products, $2,499 in cash, and scales, packaging materials and other items associated with drug distribution. The search also located several open containers of alcohol in the vehicle.
“Thanks to the quick actions of our officers and dispatch team, a wanted person was placed into custody and a significant amount of illicit substances were removed from our community,” said Chief Shaun Woods. “This incident goes to show that law enforcement is most effective when residents report suspicious activity. If you see something, please say something so we can investigate.”
These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
