DRACUT — Police Chief Peter Bartlett and Fire Chief Richard Patterson report that the Dracut Police and Fire Departments, with assistance from mutual aid partners, successfully located a missing woman on Tuesday afternoon.
Dispatchers first received a call at 5:35 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, reporting that a woman with dementia was lost in the woods in the area of 430 Marsh Hill Road, near the New Hampshire state line.
Immediately Dracut police officers and firefighters, as well as crews from Pridestar Trinity EMS, responded to the area and began a search. Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council K-9 units responded to the scene, as did the Woburn Police Drone Unit and Pelham, N.H., Police.
The woman was located by the Woburn Police drone around 7:20 p.m. at a spot just over the state line in New Hampshire. She was transported to Lowell General Hospital for evaluation.
“I want to thank our mutual aid partners for assisting us with bringing this search to a successful conclusion,” said Chief Bartlett. “The NEMLEC K-9 Units, the Woburn Police Drone Unit and Pelham Police were all essential to our efforts, and we are grateful to have them as partners.”
