BURLINGTON — Chief Thomas P. Browne shares that two members of the Burlington Police Department have been promoted.
Sgt./Det. Kevin Doherty has been promoted to Lieutenant and Det. Sage Costa has been promoted to Sergeant. Both were promoted at a ceremony on Monday, May 6.
Lt. Doherty has served with the Burlington Police Department since 2002, when he was hired as a police officer. Throughout his time with the Department, he has been dedicated to serving his community, has participated in continuous training, streamlined processes, improved operations, and worked cooperatively to provide quality service.
Lt. Doherty served as Technology Services Administrative Sergeant before being promoted to Seargent/Detective.
Sgt. Costa joined the Department in 2007 and has 16 years of policing experience. Costa served as a Patrolman from 2007-2021, and as a Technology Services Detective since 2021.
Sgt. Costa is known for his patience, professionalism, and self-assurance, and has effectively demonstrated his expertise in communications, conflict resolution, and de-escalation techniques.
“Congratulations to Lt. Doherty and Sgt. Costa on their well-deserved promotions,” said Chief Browne. “Both of them have shown time and again their dedication to serving their community and I have no doubt they will continue to do so in their new roles.”
