ACTON–Chief James Cogan reports that the Acton Police Department responded to the Luther Conant School on Thursday for reports of concerning graffiti and a possible weapon on school grounds.
On Thursday, Feb. 29, at around 10 a.m. Acton Police were contacted by the administration at Luther Conant School on Taylor Road for a report concerning graffiti found inside the school.
The graffiti contained language regarding a weapon being brought onto school property. Responding officers immediately began a search of the building, and the school went into a shelter-in-place out of an abundance of caution.
All students were safe in their designated classrooms during the search of the building.
Acton Police searched with the assistance of Massachusetts State Police, and State Police K9 Units, and coordinated with the Acton-Boxborough Regional School District.
The search concluded around 1:20 p.m. Police determined the threat was unfounded and that there is no threat to the school community. The shelter-in-place has been lifted.
An Acton Police Officer will be stationed at the school for the remainder of the day.
