EAST BRIDGEWATER — Chief Paul O’Brien reports that the East Bridgewater Police Department arrested a juvenile who was allegedly driving a stolen vehicle Tuesday.
A JUVENILE MALE, AGE 16, OF BRIDGEWATER was charged with:
- Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle
- Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle
On Tuesday, Jan. 24 at approximately 10:15 a.m., Officer Robert Lang was working a stationary radar post in the area of 100 Bedford St. when the stolen vehicle recovery system in his police cruiser alerted him of a possible stolen vehicle nearby. The system showed a Hyundai Tucson that was reported stolen out of Bridgewater the previous day.
The vehicle was located by Officer Lang, Officer Cory McLaughlin, and Officer Joshua DeJesus with K-9 Thor a short time later traveling on Brenda Avenue. Due to the nature of the traffic stop involving an allegedly stolen vehicle, officers conducted a high-risk felony stop of the vehicle. The vehicle stopped and the driver, later identified as the JUVENILE MALE, was ordered out of the vehicle and arrested without incident.
The JUVENILE MALE was transported to the East Bridgewater Police station and booked, and a parent/guardian was contacted. He was arraigned in Brockton Juvenile Court on Tuesday. His name will not be released due to his age.
Charges represent accusations. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt under the United States Constitution. With the exception of those charged as youthful offenders, juvenile proceedings are closed to the public.
