BRIDGEWATER — Chief Christopher D. Delmonte reports that the Bridgewater Police Department is investigating a motorcycle crash that occurred Wednesday night.
On Wednesday, Sept. 8 at approximately 8:25 p.m., the Bridgewater Police Department received a 911 call reporting a motorcycle crash near the intersection of South Street and Winter Street.
Upon arrival, officers located a Harley Davidson motorcycle in a wooded area near the intersection. The operator of the motorcycle, identified as Michael Wells, age 47, of Bridgewater, was located on the ground near the motorcycle suffering from serious injuries.
Officers and Bridgewater Fire paramedics immediately began rendering medical aid to Wells. Wells was flown via medical helicopter to Tufts Medical Center in Boston where he later died from his injuries.
The initial investigation indicates that Wells was traveling north on South Street toward Winter Street when he lost control of the motorcycle.
The Raynham Police Department and Plymouth County Sheriff Department’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation responded to assist with accident reconstruction. The single-vehicle crash is currently under investigation by Bridgewater Police Officers Marc Hutchins and Matthew MacFadzen, Bridgewater Police Det. Peter Balboni and Raynham Police Officer Brian Silva.
Chief Delmonte would like to offer his condolences on behalf of the Bridgewater Police Department to Wells’s family and loved ones.
