No Threat to Public, Investigation Remains Ongoing
WOBURN — Chief Robert Rufo reports that the Woburn Police Department is investigating after a gunshot victim was taken to a local hospital Saturday afternoon.
There was no danger to the public as a result of this incident.
At approximately 3:15 p.m., a 19-year-old Woburn man was transported to a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the neck. The man was dropped off by a person known to the victim.
Hospital staff notified police and through the subsequent investigation it was determined that the victim was shot in Woburn.
At this time, the preliminary investigation indicates that the incident may have been accidental or unintentional, but the investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been made and no charges have been filed at this time.
The victim’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
A gun has been recovered by Woburn Police and investigators are interviewing all parties involved.
Because the incident is still under active investigation no further information is being released at this time.
