IPSWICH — Lt. Jonathan Hubbard reports that the Ipswich Police Department responded to a motorcycle crash early this morning in which one individual was seriously injured.
At approximately 1:30 a.m., Ipswich Police and Fire responded to Little Neck Road by Pasture Way for a report of a motorcycle crash. Upon arrival, the first-responding officer encountered a male who had been following the motorcycle in his pickup truck when the crash occurred. The driver of the truck led the officer to the operator of the motorcycle, who was laying injured in the woods alongside the road.
The two individuals are known to one another.
The first-responding officer and later additional police, fire and Action EMS provided aid to the victim, who suffered serious injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.
The man — an 18-year-old Ipswich resident — was stabilized and transported by ambulance to Great Neck Park on Little Neck Road, and subsequently transported by medical helicopter to Lahey Hospital & Medical Center in Burlington.
Officers initiated an on-scene investigation, through which they determined that the two men had been talking at Pavilion Beach and then left, with the truck driving behind the motorcycle. The operator of the motorcycle later allegedly accelerated quickly and disappeared from view. A short time later, the operator of the truck located him approximately five feet off the roadway in heavy brush near Pasture Way.
The crash remains under investigation by Ipswich Police.
