RANDOLPH — Chief Anthony Marag reports that the Randolph Police Department is actively investigating a shooting that took place this morning at the Rosemont Square Apartments on High Street.
At approximately 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 18, Randolph Police received a call regarding shots fired in the area of the Rosemont Square apartment complex. Upon arrival, police located three individuals in the area they believed to be involved in the incident.
One of those individuals was in possession of a firearm and was placed in custody. No other suspects were located and no victims were found.
Police are currently searching for the remaining suspect.
There is not believed to be any danger to the public at this time.
The Rosemont Square Apartments is located less than a mile from the Randolph Community Middle School, and out of an abundance of caution the school was placed on lockdown as students were arriving this morning. As of 9:45 a.m. the lockdown was lifted, and minutes later the shelter-in-place for the surrounding area was lifted as well.
The Braintree and Avon Police Departments assisted in the search, as did the Mass State Police.
This is an active investigation and additional information will be released as it becomes available. Anyone with information on the incident should contact the Randolph Police Department at 781-963-1212 or visit the department’s website for the tip411 system.
