MANCHESTER-BY-THE-SEA — Chief Todd Fitzgerald reports that the Manchester-by-the-Sea Police Department has charged an area man following a stabbing Sunday night.
RAYMOND JOEL VEGA-CASTRO, 23, who has previously resided in Revere, has been charged with:
- Armed Assault with Intent to Murder
- Mayhem
- Kidnapping
- Assault and Battery to Collect a Loan or Debt
Manchester-by-the-Sea Police responded to the area of School and North Streets last night at approximately 7:50 p.m. for a report of a man who had been stabbed. A man in his mid-thirties who had suffered multiple stab wounds was located and taken by ambulance to Beverly Hospital. His injuries at that time were believed to be non-life-threatening.
Through a subsequent investigation in collaboration with the Lynn and Revere Police Departments, VEGA-CASTRO was identified and arrested Sunday night. He was brought to the Manchester-by-the-Sea Police Department at 1:45 a.m. this morning, where he is being held until he is arraigned today at Salem District Court. He was held without bail pending arraignement.
The Manchester-by-the-Sea Police Department is still seeking two suspects believed to have been involved in the incident as well.
There is no danger to the public at this time, and the stabbing is not believed to have been a random act. This incident remains under active investigation by the Manchester-by-the-Sea Police Department and no further information is available.
These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
