BRAINTREE — Police Chief Mark Dubois reports that two male suspects from a shooting at the South Shore Plaza have been taken into custody, and wishes to share the following preliminary information:
At 4:43 p.m., Braintree Police responded to a report of a shooting at the mall. Upon arrival, police found a 15-year-old female had sustained what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries from a shooting in the mall. She was transported to an area hospital by ambulance.
Police believe this was a targeted shooting and not an active shooter situation at the mall today.
There was a shelter-in-place order issued in the neighborhoods surrounding the mall and a lock-down at the mall while police responded and actively sought after the suspects. Both the shelter-in-place and lock-down have since been lifted.
Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
