SAUGUS — Interim Chief Ronald Giorgetti reports that the Saugus Police Department subdued a knife-wielding man on Monday night and is actively investigating.
Saugus police responded to Woodbury Avenue at 9:18 p.m. for a report of a disturbance. Upon arrival officers were met by an adult male subject who exited a building armed with a knife.
Officers attempted to deescalate the situation and ordered the man to drop the knife. During this process the decision was made by police to deploy a less lethal “bean bag” projectile which allowed police to apprehend the subject and to secure the scene.
The subject, whose name is not being released at this time, has been taken by ambulance to an area hospital.
No additional information is available at this time. The incident is under investigation by the Saugus Police Department.
