Gloucester Police Join Pink Patch Project to Support Breast Cancer Research
GLOUCESTER — Chief Edward Conley is pleased to announce that the Gloucester Police Department is participating in the Pink Patch Project this month.
The Pink Patch Project is a collaborative effort among public safety agencies nationwide to bring attention to the fight against breast cancer and to support cancer research organizations.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and beginning this week, the Gloucester Police Department is selling a limited number of pink patches. Patches cost $10 each, with all proceeds benefiting the ESSCO-MGH Breast Cancer Research Fund, an organization that supports the advancement of breast cancer research and treatment at Massachusetts General Hospital.
Additionally, many officers will be wearing the pink patch throughout October. Members of the department will also raise awareness about the initiative on social media using the hashtag #PinkPatchProject.
“The Pink Patch Project is an incredible initiative, allowing public safety officials the opportunity each year to help raise awareness about breast cancer and funds for research,” Chief Conley said. “We’re proud to take part, and encourage community members who wish to support our efforts to purchase a patch.”
Residents can also stop by the police department at 197 Main St. to purchase a patch for $10, or can reach out to members of the department through the Gloucester Police Patrol Association’s Instagram at @gpdpatrolunion.
