Holbrook Man Sentenced to 4 1/2 Years in Federal Prison for Selling Fentanyl and Heroin

HOLBROOK — Chief William Smith reports that a man arrested for selling drugs in Holbrook, who pleaded guilty to drug charges in federal court, was sentenced last week to serve time in prison.

ARCELINO SILVA, AGE 28, OF HOLBOOK pleaded guilty on Sept. 26 to:

• Possessing Heroin, Fentanyl and Cocaine with Intent to Distribute
• Possessing Heroin and Cocaine with Intent to Distribute

On Monday, Feb. 12, SILVA was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Indira Talwani to four-and-a-half years in federal prison and three years of supervised release.

From December 2015 to August 2016, members of the Drug Enforcement Administration conducted an investigation into fentanyl and heroin being sold in Holbrook and surrounding communities.

On May 1, 2016, Holbrook Police arrested SILVA, who had more than 60 grams of fentanyl, heroin and cocaine in his possession.

In June of 2016, an undercover officer observed SILVA make two sales of a small amount of fentanyl and heroin in Holbrook.

A federal arrest warrant was later issued and officers arrested him in Brockton on Aug. 10, 2016. In searching SILVA, officers recovered five grams of cocaine and nine grams of heroin.

“I am pleased to see that Mr. Silva will be behind bars for the next four years and I’m thankful to our law enforcement partners, both locally and at the federal level, for their assistance in his arrest and subsequent conviction,” Chief Smith said. “This is an individual who has been selling these deadly drugs in Holbrook and nearby communities for quite some time. Getting narcotics dealers off of our streets is a key priority for our department.”
