Hull Police Arrest Man after Alleged Alcohol-Infused Property Damage Spree
Suspect Allegedly Vandalized Vehicles in Neighbor’s Driveway
HULL — Chief John E. Dunn reports that the Hull Police Department arrested a man for allegedly damaging three vehicles parked in his neighbor’s driveway in what the police department believes was an alcohol-infused fit of rage.
CHRISTOPHER E. VANSLYKE, AGE 35, OF HULL was arrested and charged with seven felony counts of Malicious Destruction of Property.
On Saturday, Sept. 23, Hull Police were called at 11:03 p.m. to an address on Spring Street for a report of vandalism. Upon arrival, officers were met by a resident who told police that he was having a gathering with friends that evening when they saw their neighbor, identified as VANSLYKE, and invited him to join them. The resident told police that VANSLYKE appeared to be intoxicated and that he continued to drink alcohol, becoming unsteady on his feet. The neighbor walked VANSLYKE home and told him that he should not be drinking anymore.
A few minutes later, the resident and his friends heard loud noises coming from the driveway and walked around the yard to find VANSLYKE standing between two cars, with windows broken on thee cars and multiple tires slashed on the vehicles. A gas grill had also been knocked over and damaged.
One car, a 2017 Jeep Wrangler, sustained a broken windshield and slashed driver’s side tires. The second car, a 2003 Nissan Xterra, had multiple broken windows and two driver’s side tires slashed. A third car, a 2004 Honda CRV, had multiple broken windows and one passenger’s side tire slashed.
The resident called police, and VANSLYKE was found and arrested at his home.
VANSLYKE was released on $340 cash bail pending his arraignment in Hingham District Court.
These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
