Massachusetts Police Chiefs Raise More Than $65,000 for Jimmy Fund at the 28th Annual Ralph Lepore Jimmy Fund Golf Tournament
SUTTON — The Massachusetts Chiefs of Police Association Foundation is pleased to announce that it will donate more than $65,000 to the Jimmy Fund from funds raised during the 28th annual Ralph Lepore Jimmy Fund Golf Tournament.
The tournament was held on Aug. 7 at Pleasant Valley Country Club in Sutton. Due to generous donations — including a $25,000 contribution from Walmart — and money raised from auction items, the Foundation raised $23,845 more than last year’s $41,564 for a total of $65,409. Special guest Cheryl Fiandaca, Chief Investigative Reporter at Channel 4, emceed the auction. Melrose Police Chief Michael Lyle co-organized the event with Wakefield Chief Rick Smith.
“Every year this tournament continues to be a great success and I want to thank all the players, sponsors and those who participated in the auction for helping us raise money for the Jimmy Fund,” said Chief Lyle, who has organized the tournament for the past four years. “A special thank you to our presenting sponsor, Walmart, for its contribution and continued support over the last two years, and to Cheryl Fiandaca for her assistance at the auction.”
Members of the Foundation would like to thank all the sponsors who contributed to the game. The donations are crucial to support groundbreaking cancer research and personalized patient care at Dana-Farber. The Jimmy Fund is the primary charitable organization of the Massachusetts Chiefs of Police Association Foundation.
Chief Lyle would also like to thank Cheryl Lott and Dawn Nanni from the Massachusetts Chiefs of Police. The event would not have been possible without their assistance throughout the entire process.
A gracious thank you to Committee Member Stoneham Chief James McIntyre, along with golf tournament volunteers: Middleton Chief James DiGianvittorio (Massachusetts Chiefs of Police Association President), Dudley Chief Stephen Wojnar (Massachusetts Chiefs of Police Association 1st Vice President), Massachusetts Chiefs of Police Association Executive Director Chief Mark Leahy (Retired, Northborough) and his daughters, Kate and Kelly Leahy, Massachusetts Chiefs of Police Association General Counsel Eric Atstupenas, Dover Chief Peter McGowan, Norton Chief Brian Clark, Weston Chief Michael Goulding, Belmont Chief Richard McLaughlin, Beverly Chief John Lelacheur, Photographer Chief Tim Ryan (Retired, Millville), Jensen Plotkin, Alexandra Lott and Katie McGuirk, Associate Director, Jimmy Fund Golf.
