Georgetown Police Investigating Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash
GEORGETOWN – Lt. Scott Hatch reports that the Georgetown Police Department is investigating an early morning, two-car crash that left one man dead.
At 7:04 a.m., Georgetown Police were dispatched to the intersection of East Main Street and Tenney Street on a report of a motor vehicle crash.
Upon arrival, police learned that a 77-year-old man from Rowley was traveling west out of Tenney Street when his car spun out, landing in the eastbound lane of Main Street, where it was struck by a 39-year-old man from Groveland who was traveling east.
The Georgetown Fire Department also arrived on scene, as the 77-year-old man was entrapped in his vehicle. Once extricated, he was transported to Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport, where he was later pronounced dead. There was one passenger in the 77-year-old’s vehicle who was not injured.
The 39-old driver was transported to Holy Family Hospital in Haverhill with minor injuries.
This incident remains under investigation by the Georgetown Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
