Franklin Police Investigating Bank Robbery
FRANKLIN — Police Chief Stephan Semerjian reports that the Franklin Police Department is actively searching for two suspects involved in a robbery at the Middlesex Savings Bank inside the Franklin Village Shopping Center, 1000 Franklin Village Drive, this morning.
At approximately 11:40 a.m., a Franklin Police Officer working detail at the shopping center was approached by a resident who reported seeing two people wearing hoods and masks enter the Middlesex Savings Bank.
As the officer approached the bank, two individuals ran out of the building. The officer ordered them to stop and they refused, leading to a short foot pursuit. Both individuals got into a parked vehicle at a nearby gas station and fled.
According to police, the two suspects entered the bank and ordered all patrons, including several children, to get on the ground. They then demanded money from the tellers and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. No weapon was shown.
Police are searching for a dark-colored Volkswagen sedan, most likely a Passat or a Jetta, that fled the scene.
The suspects are described as two males wearing hoods, gloves and masks making further identification nearly impossible. However, one of the males is believed to be light-skinned.
“The incident is under active investigation,” Chief Semerjian said. “We urge anyone who knows anything about the suspects or has additional information about the robbery, to contact Franklin Police immediately.”
Anyone with any information related to the robbery should contact the Franklin Police Department at 508-528-1212.
Note to the media: Surveillance footage from the scene is still being processed and is not expected to be available tonight.
