Rockport Police Department Installs 24-hour Medication Disposal Box at Police Station
ROCKPORT — Chief John Horvath is pleased to announce that the Rockport Police Department has received and installed a safe and secure medication disposal box in the lobby of the police station.
The medication disposal box was provided to the department compliments of Addison Gilbert Hospital, a member of Lahey Health, and will allow residents 24-hour access to discretely drop off unwanted medications, no questions asked.
“We are proud to be able to offer a medication disposal service to our community, so they may dispose of their unwanted medications in a safe and discreet manner,” Chief Horvath said. “It is so important for people to properly dispose of unwanted medication to be sure they don’t end up in the wrong hands. This is a tremendous resource for the community and we encourage anyone with unwanted or expired prescription drugs to come drop them off in the box at the station.”
“We are proud to work with the Rockport Police Department to install this medication disposal box,” said Cynthia Cafasso Donaldson, Vice President of Addison Gilbert Hospital. “Medication safety is so important to our communities and this medication box will help to alleviate some of the issues that occur as a result of improper medication disposal.”
Residents should note that no liquids, needles or sharps will be accepted. Contact the Rockport Police Department at 978-546-1212 with any questions or concerns.
