Burlington Police and Fire Host Youth Public Safety Academy In Conjunction with the Middlesex Sheriff ’s Office
BURLINGTON — Fire Chief Steve Yetman and Police Chief Mike Kent are happy to report that the Burlington Police and Fire Departments hosted a successful Youth Public Safety Academy today in conjunction with the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office.
Children, ages 9 through 11, visited with Burlington firefighters this morning, learning about the different aspects of the fire engines, the hoses used to put out a fire and the basics of CPR.
“This was a great opportunity for our members to interact with our younger residents to show them the ins and out of the Burlington Fire Department,” Chief Yetman said. “The kids had a great time interacting with firefighters and we look forward to participating in the academy next year.”
“Anytime we can interact with children in a positive way as police officers, it’s a win,” Chief Kent said. “The Burlington Police Department is proud to take part in the YPSA program every year!”
“I want to thank Chief Kent, Chief Yetman, and the members of the Burlington Police and Fire Departments for their participation in the YPSA Program again this year,” said Sheriff Peter J. Koutoujian. “One of the best days for campers each week is Community Day when they visit with their local fire fighters and police officers in educational and fun-filled environments.”
