Wenham Police Arrest Man for Allegedly Breaking and Entering Into A Home
WENHAM — Chief Thomas Perkins reports that the Wenham Police Department arrested a man for allegedly breaking and entering into a residence this morning.
TONY V. LE, AGE 22, OF BEVERLY, is charged with Breaking and Entering In The Nighttime For A Felony and Trespassing With A Motor Vehicle.
Around 2 a.m. today, a woman from Larch Row called 911 to report that she woke up to an unknown man in her bedroom.
An officer was down the street when the call was dispatched and responded to the residence. Upon his arrival, he found LE walking in front of the home and detained him. An additional Wenham officer and an officer from the Hamilton Police Department also arrived to the area to assist.
After speaking with the woman, police determined that LE was the same man she saw in her bedroom. During a search of the area, police found that there was an attempt to force open a rear slider door before LE gained entry into the home by other means.
Due to tracks in the grass in the rear of the home, the Massachusetts State Police was called in to assist with a K-9 Unit. A search of the area determined the suspect was the only party on the premises.
LE was arrested and transported to the Wenham police station for booking. He was held on $5,000 cash bail and later transported to Newburyport District Court for arraignment.
“This is an example of community policing at its finest,” Chief Perkins said. “Due to the swift response of the Wenham and Hamilton police departments, we were able to find, apprehend and charge this individual. I applaud their hard work.”
These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
