2014 NEMLEC Foundation Golf Tournament Raised More than $55,000
After All Donations and Expenses Tabulated, Net Proceeds Total More than $35,000 For Police Training and Services!
DRACUT — The NEMLEC Police Foundation, Inc. is pleased to announce that after a final tabulation of donations and expenses, the annual Golf Tournament Fundraiser brought in net proceeds of more than $35,000 for police training, programs, and services.
The 2014 NEMLEC Police Foundation Golf Tournament was held on Monday, May 19, 2014 at the Four Oaks Country Club in Dracut. It featured a sellout field of 123 golfers, who each paid $150 for a round of golf and a dinner buffet to follow. This year, the fundraising effort was bolstered by an extremely strong showing by our sponsors and a successful raffle and silent auction.
The NEMLEC Police Foundation also welcomed its first ever Platinum Sponsor, Walmart, which donated $10,000!
“This was an incredible year for a fundraiser,” said Foundation Coordinator Sharon Crowley. “We had a full field, good weather, and great people who made the day just that!”
Platinum Sponsor ($10,000) — Walmart
Golf Sponsors ($5,000) — Kohls and All Sports Heroes of Lowell
Silver Sponsors $2,500) — Flagship Press, Municipal Graphics, The Savings Bank, MHQ, Microsystems Integrated Public Safety Solutions, RMD Inc..
Bronze Sponsors (At least $1,000) — Harris Foundation, Trinity Ambulance, Armstrong Ambulance, Imperial Municipal Partners, and D&R General Contracting
Other Sponsors — Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office, Waltham Auto Tow, Phil Howe’s Towing of Wakefield, Winchester Coop, Washington Savings Bank, Steve Hollingsworth, Lenzis of Dracut, Aprile’s European Restaurant, the Belmont Police Association, 24Trauma, APD Management Inc., and National Grand Bank of Marblehead.
“This was a great year for the NEMLEC Foundation’s efforts to train law enforcement and bolster public safety in Massachusetts,” said Richard Raymond, the Foundation’s Chairman. “I want to thank each and every one of our sponsors who generously made this day such a success.”
The 2014 Golf Tournament raised a total of $55,355. The expenses, including the cost of renting out the Four Oaks Country Club for the day, totaled $19,826.79. As a result, $35,528.21 in net proceeds went right into the NEMLEC Foundation’s work benefiting public safety and training municipal police in Middlesex and Essex counties.
The cost of the golf course was offset by the $150 per golfer fee, leaving room for such an amazing fundraising net from the event’s sponsors, raffle, and silent auction.
With funds raised at previous tournaments, the Foundation has been able to offer vital training programs to hundreds of police officers in Middlesex and Essex counties, as well as elite training to NEMLEC units, including:
- School Threat Assessment Response System (STARS) Training
- Two Week In-depth Criminal Investigation Training for Detectives
- Supervisor Training through Roger Williams University
- Comprehensive motorcycle training for the NEMLEC Motor Unit
- Advanced Tactical Training (SWAT/RRT)
- K9 Training
