NEWBURYPORT – Mayor Sean Reardon and the City of Newburyport inform residents of the upcoming District-Wide Special Election on the Whittier Tech Building Project, which will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 23.
Whittier Tech is pursuing the construction of a new building. The current building was opened in 1973, and its last significant renovation was a roof replacement in 2007.
The plan for new construction is estimated to cost $444.6 million. With MSBA reimbursement and other grant funding, the district’s share is estimated at $267.5 million.
This plan will be voted on during a districtwide referendum set for Thursday, Jan. 23. A “yes” vote indicates you are in favor of the $444.6 million project, while a “no” vote indicates you are not in favor.
Newburyport residents can vote at the following polling locations:

- Ward 1: People’s United Methodist Church, 64 Purchase St.
- Ward 2: Newburyport Public Library, 94 State St.
