CANTON — Chief Wendell Robery is pleased to announce that the Canton Fire Department recently promoted four members of the department.
A promotional ceremony was held Tuesday, July 25 during the Canton Select Board meeting.
With 35 years of service to Canton Fire Department,Ed Freitas was promoted from captain to deputy chief of operations. In this position, he will be overseeing the operations division of EMS training and the department’s four working groups.
Lt. Steve Driscoll, with 13 years of service to the department, was promoted to captain of Group 3.
Lt. Jamie Meier, who has served with the Canton Fire Department for 21 years, was promoted to captain of training and safety. He has experience as an instructor at the Massachusetts Fire Academy, which will help in his role as he evaluates and addresses the ongoing training needs for the department.
Lt. Michael Moriarty, who has 22 years of service with the department, was promoted to lieutenant of Group 1.
“Each of these members has served our department and our community for many years,” said Chief Robery. “These promotions are well-deserved and are a reflection of their dedication to the fire service and the safety of Canton’s residents.”
