WOBURN – Superintendent Matthew Crowley is pleased to announce that Daniel Rasanen has been appointed the new principal of Woburn Memorial High School beginning July 1.
Rasanen brings his wealth of experience in education to Woburn Public Schools, having spent his career serving students as an English Teacher and then school administrator at Lawrence High School.
Since 2015, Rasanen has served as the principal/program director of RISE Academy, an alternative high school in Lawrence, which works collaboratively with many City and State agencies in advocating for the needs of students.
Throughout the interview process, Rasanen displayed his deep knowledge of utilizing and implementing student data to inform decisions, drive instruction and promote academic rigor. He also referenced his experience and commitment to prioritizing authentic learning experiences for students, a key component of the district’s strategic vision.
“Mr. Rasanen’s ability to connect with students embodies the caliber of an educational professional that the students have envisioned to lead Woburn Memorial High School,” said Superintendent Crowley. “He speaks highly of Woburn’s willingness to talk openly about the issues that it faces and embrace change. We believe that he will foster a positive environment where students and staff feel a sense of belonging.”
Rasanen holds a Master of Educational Leadership from American International College.
