EAST BRIDGEWATER — The Town of East Bridgewater and the East Bridgewater Water Department report that a full outdoor water ban for municipal water users is now in effect to protect the town’s water supply.
Effective immediately, no non-essential outdoor water use will be allowed in the Town of East Bridgewater. This is in response to the Level 2 Significant Drought currently ongoing across the region and the state, which was declared by Secretary of Environmental Affairs Bethany A. Card.
The ban applies to all users of town water and will remain in place until further notice.
As a result, the East Bridgewater Water Department has implemented mandatory water restrictions on outdoor water use. This includes:
- Watering of lawns via sprinklers or automatic irrigation systems
- Washing of cars (other than commercial car washes)
- Washing of walkways, building surfaces, etc.
The ban will ensure an adequate supply of water for fire protection and all consumers. A waiver may be granted for 14 days for newly installed lawns, and does not apply to water usage that is necessary for the operation of a business (such as watering of plants or providing water to livestock).
Any resident with questions or concerns relating to the ban can contact the East Bridgewater Water Department at 508-378-1620.
The Town of East Bridgewater thanks residents for their cooperation relating to this ban and for conserving water however possible.
Additional ways residents can conserve water include:
- Turning off water while brushing teeth or shaving (“never let the water run”).
- Taking shorter showers and using water-saving showerheads.
- Washing only full loads of laundry and dishes.
- Fixing leaky faucets, toilets and pipes as soon as a leak is observed.
