BOURNE — Bourne High School art students took top honors as part of a special high school exhibit through the Cape Cod Arts Center.
Ten students from BHS have work displayed as part of the CCAC’s 2022 “Beginnings” high school student show, which opened Friday, March 18.
As part of the show, ribbons for first place, second place and honorable mention are awarded, as well as two scholarships.
Bourne High School had three students place as part of the show. They include:
- Bridget Berestecky, grade 12, charcoal – First Place (“Self Portrait”)
- Kai Chen, grade 12, acrylic/watercolor on transfer paper – Second Place (“Father”)

“These students have worked so hard on these pieces and so many others during their time at BHS, and they deserve the recognition they are receiving by having their work on display through the Cape Cod Arts Center,” said Bourne High School art teacher Molly Henriksen-Rowland. “The high-quality work on display represents students ranging from freshmen to seniors. It is a real testament to the strength of the art program here at the high school, and how our students continue to grow as artists and challenge each other to improve over their time at BHS.”
This is the 25th year the CCAC has coordinated with the schools and teachers on the Cape to bring together and display the artwork of more than 100 students.
“The arts have never been stronger here at Bourne High School, and it is terrific that these students’ work is now available for residents throughout the Cape to view and enjoy,” Principal Amy Cetner said. “We congratulate Bridget, Kai and Gemma for their special recognition, as well as every student whose work is featured as part of this exhibit.”
