Town to Host Final Vaccine Clinic Saturday, March 12
COHASSET — The Cohasset Board of Public Health announces that it has voted to rescind the COVID-19 Emergency Public Health Order, effective immediately, that was issued last year.
The vote, taken on Tuesday, March 1, rescinds the order that went into effect in August 2021 requiring employees and visitors to wear a face covering in all municipal buildings.
The decision to rescind the order was made based on the decrease of the number of reported COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations in town, as well as the high vaccination rates in Cohasset.
Further, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has categorized both Norfolk and Plymouth counties as “low risk” in terms of hospitalizations and hospital capacity.
Consistent with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, the local Cohasset Board of Public Health strongly recommends that fully vaccinated people continue to wear a mask indoors if:
- They have a weakened immune system
- They have increased risk due to age or underlying medical conditions
- Someone in their household has a weakened immune system, is at increased risk for severe disease or is unvaccinated
Those not fully vaccinated are urged to wear a mask indoors. Additionally, all residents should continue to wear a mask indoors in transportation and medical settings.
The Cohasset Board of Public Health encourages all residents to get a COVID-19 booster shot for added protection against the virus. The Board will be hosting a final vaccine clinic on Saturday, March 12, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Willcutt Commons. Anyone age 18 and over eligible for a first, second or booster dose of the Moderna vaccine is encouraged to attend.
