TYNGSBORO – Superintendent Jill Davis is pleased to share that Greater Lowell Technical High School student Saphani Ung has received an employee excellence award from Lowell Five Bank.
Ung is a senior in the Marketing Education Program. She was selected to receive the Bank’s Make it Matter Award for August 2021. Each month the Award recognizes one Bank employee who excels in their commitment to Lowell Five customers and colleagues.
Ung joined Lowell Five as a part-time Retail Banking Associate in June, working in the Lowell branch on Westford Street. In its award, the Bank cited Ung’s alertness and perceptive nature. During a customer interaction, Ung sensed something was amiss. She spoke with management, and after further discussion with the customer the transaction was cancelled, thus protecting the customer from theft.
Lowell Five has operated a branch during school hours since 1991. Bank Manager Julie Czelewicz is a 1993 graduate of Greater Lowell Technical High School, and has managed the school branch for 20 years. Ung worked as an intern in the School Banking Program in the 2020-2021 school year, preparing her for her Retail Banking Associate role. This school year Ung is working as a cooperative education student at the school branch.
“What I like best about Lowell Five is the community relationship the bank maintains. They are active and caring with their customers,” Ung said. “Whenever customers came in, they would make accommodations, no matter how big or small, to maintain their comfort. I look forward to continuing learning from the Lowell Five and continuing to do what I can to make it matter.”
Ung intends to use the knowledge and skills she has learned at Greater Lowell Technical High School and at Lowell Five Bank to open her own business in the future.
“I invite the School community to join me in congratulating Saphani for this honor,” Superintendent Davis said. “And thank you to Lowell Five Bank for recognizing her hard work. The Lowell Five Bank has been one of our Cooperative Education employers and a tremendous community partner for many years, giving our students experience that prepares them for success in the business world.”
