WHITMAN — Superintendent Jeffrey Szymaniak and Whitman-Hanson Regional High School art instructor Christina Maher are pleased to share that four high school students have been selected to take part in a collaborative “Art Stars” project at the South Shore Art Center over the next several weeks.
Students selected include Lily Hawk, Connor Gouthro, Nina Gorman and Eryka Ingram.
The four students will be part of a select group of top high school art students from the region taking part in the program, which will occur over 12 meetings. The meetings will include in-person sessions at art galleries, at outdoor locations and also some held virtually. Each student will be assigned a professional artist mentor and take part in a variety of workshops led by guest artists.
The students will create their own work inspired by the professionals they meet and their own identities.
Work from the project will be displayed in the gallery at the South Shore Art Center in Cohasset during the annual Blue Ribbon Exhibition in July, where each will be awarded a $250 stipend for completing the program.
“I am very proud of all of these talented student artists and know they will do a wonderful job representing Whitman-Hanson during this special project,” Maher said. “We commend them for their commitment to their work during this challenging year, and it means a lot that they will be recognized in this very special way.”
