Election to be Held Saturday, June 6
EAST BRIDGEWATER — Town Administrator Brian S. Noble and Town Clerk Susan Gillpatrick announce that the Board of Selectmen has voted to postpone the annual Town Election from April 11 to Saturday, June 6 in response to COVID-19.
The decision was made in accordance with legislation signed by Governor Charlie Baker last week which allows municipalities to postpone local elections as part of their response to COVID-19.
The election will take place in the gymnasium at the Jr/Sr High School, 143 Plymouth St.
The following offices will appear on 2020 ballot:
- Moderator, three-year term
- Board of Selectmen, three-year term
- Assessor, three-year term
- School Committee, three-year term (2 positions)
- Housing Authority, five-year term
- Library Trustees, three-year term (2 positions)
- Board of Health
- Planning Board, three-year term (3 positions)
The last day to register to vote in the Town Election will be Wednesday, May 27. Residents can register online, by mail or in person at the Town Clerk’s Office from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on May 27. Residents can check their voter status here.

The Town announced a declaration of emergency in response to COVID-19 on March 14 and it remains in effect until further notice. All municipal buildings are closed to the public. East Bridgewater Police, Fire and Department of Public Works continue to provide service to the Town. The Transfer Station remains closed. The Senior Center is providing meals on wheels, emergency transportation and outreach to East Bridgewater’s senior population. All non-essential businesses are closed until May 4.
