Kearsarge Regional High School to Hold Mock DUI Crash for Students
NEW LONDON — Superintendent Winfried Feneberg announces that Kearsarge Regional High School will put on a mock collision tomorrow to illustrate the negative effects impaired driving can have on a community.
WHEN:
Thursday, May 3 at 10 a.m.
WHERE:
Kearsarge Regional High School on the track, 457 North Road, North Sutton
WHAT:
The high school, in conjunction with the Sutton Police Department, will conduct a simulated impaired driving traffic collision.
Student actors will participate in the mock collision, which will feature a wrecked car where an impaired driver and the vehicle’s passengers are injured, including one fatality. As the scene unfolds, students will be made aware of a series of shocking consequences and will have a realistic look on the dangers of impaired driving.
Emergency responders will also be on scene, as they would in a real crash, along with a hearse, which arrives to transport the student who died.
The mock collision will conclude with an assembly for the students. A prerecorded film will be presented, showing students what unfolds after the driver is arrested following the crash. After the film, emergency responders will be available to answer any questions students may have regarding the presentation and/or the consequences of impaired driving.
