Somerset Police Join Pink Patch Project to Support Breast Cancer Research
SOMERSET — Chief George McNeil is pleased to announce that the Somerset Police Department will be participating in the Pink Patch Project for the first time this year.
The Pink Patch Project is a collaborative effort among public safety agencies nationwide to bring attention to the fight against breast cancer and to support cancer research organizations.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and beginning this week, the Somerset Police Department will be selling a limited number of pink patches. Patches will cost $10 each, with all proceeds benefiting the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
Additionally, many officers will be wearing the pink patch throughout October.
Those who would like to purchase a patch can go to this website or visit the Somerset Police station lobby, 465 County St. Please note that only cash will be accepted for the patches.
“This is our first year participating in this wonderful endeavor and I am proud that our officers will be wearing the pink patch on their uniforms this month,” Chief McNeil said. “Everyone knows someone who has been impacted by cancer and if we can do some small part to fund research for a cure then I am happy to do so.”
