SAU 16 Alumnus Wins ACTE Trophy Design Contest

EXETER — The design of a recent graduate of the Seacoast School of Technology has won the Association for Career and Technical Education’s (ACTE) annual student trophy design contest.

Kathleen Terwilliger’s trophy design was selected by the ACTE’s Board of Directors to be 3D printed and awarded to several individuals who are being recognized nationally for extraordinary contributions to career and technical education. The awards will be given out at ACTE’s Annual Awards Gala, which is being held in Anaheim, California on Dec. 7.

“This is an incredible honor, and we’re proud that an Alumnus of the Seacoast School of Technology was selected as the winner of ACTE’s student trophy design contest this year,” Superintendent Ryan said. “Kathleen demonstrated a true passion for engineering as a student, and it’s exciting to see her design chosen.”

Terwilliger graduated from the Seacoast School of Technology this spring, after studying pre-engineering. As the winner of the student contest, she will receive a $1,000 scholarship, as well as a trip to the ACTE Awards Gala this December along with Seacoast School of Technology Recruitment and Retention Specialist Samantha Tukey, courtesy of ACTE. The Seacoast School of Technology is also being awarded a one-year lease, at no cost, of a 3D printer by Stratasys, Ltd. 

“Kathleen is a hard-working student with a creative mind for problem-solving,” said Seacoast School of Technology Assistant Principal Pam Carr. “Her peers respect her for her quiet leadership and willingness to work collaboratively as a team.”
