Woburn Police Charge Man With OUI After Pair of Pedestrians Injured in Crash
WOBURN — Chief Robert Rufo reports that a man was arrested yesterday after he allegedly injured two pedestrians in a restaurant parking lot.
WILLIAM BARRY, AGE 74, OF WOBURN was arrested and charged with Operating Operating Under the Influence Causing Serious Bodily Injury and Operating After Registration Revocation.
At 6:42 p.m. Sunday, June 9, Woburn Police were dispatched to the parking lot at Applebee’s, 2 Elm St., for a report of a crash with pedestrians struck. Upon arrival, first responders observed that two pedestrians had been injured following a crash involving a vehicle driven by BARRY.
Woburn Police and Fire provided aid to an injured man and woman, as officers initiated an on-scene investigation. Through the investigation, Woburn Police determined that BARRY abruptly accelerated through a parking space and struck the railing of a pedestrian ramp, pinning the male victim against the building and knocking the female victim to the ground.
Both victims were transported to an area hospital, and the female victim is believed to have sustained serious injuries. Following further investigation, officers determined that BARRY was under the influence of liquor.
BARRY was booked and subsequently released on bail pending his arraignment today in Woburn District Court.
These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
