GLTS Receives YALSA’s 2019 Teen’s Top Ten Book Giveaway
LAWRENCE — Superintendent John Lavoie is pleased to announce that Greater Lawrence Tech was recently named a recipient of the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) 2019 Teen’s Top Ten Book Giveaway.
Each year, teens from around the country nominate their top 25 books from the previous year. Nominations are posted during National Library Week in April, and teens are encouraged to read as many nominees as they can over the summer.
Then, readers from ages 12-18 vote on their top 10 choices from Aug. 15-Oct. 13, which make up the Top Ten list.
As part of the process, YALSA awarded 60 sets of the 2019 Teens’ Top Ten nominees to libraries in need. GLTS will receive one copy of the 25 books nominated (an approximate $425 value).
“This is a fantastic opportunity for students to check out some of the best books their peers from around the country recommend,” GLTS Library Media Specialist Mary Millette said. “We always try to provide fun ways for students to continue reading over the summer and we’re thankful to YALSA for awarding us this grant that will directly work toward this goal.”
This year’s 25 books nominated for the Top Ten list can be found here.
