Armstrong Ambulance and Medford Fire Department Partner for Live Ice Rescue Training

ARLINGTON — Armstrong Ambulance and the Medford Fire Department will work together tomorrow morning to conduct a live ice rescue training.

WHEN:

Thursday, Jan. 17, 10 a.m. (attending media should arrive by 9:40 a.m.)

WHERE:

Oak Grove Cemetery, 230 Playstead Rd., Medford

WHAT:

Members of the Medford Fire Department, in partnership with Paramedics and EMTs from Armstrong Ambulance, will be conducting a live ice rescue drill. During the drill, firefighters will simulate an emergency ice rescue using the department’s Rescue Alive sled.

A mock victim will take a position in the icy waters at Oak Grove Cemetery before being rescued safely by firefighters and provided emergency medical services on-site by Armstrong Ambulance team members.

The Armstrong team will also demonstrate on-site care that they would administer to the first responders entering the water to conduct a rescue.
