AVON — Chief David Charest and the Avon Fire Department are pleased to invite community members to this year’s Open House to celebrate the 2024 National Fire Prevention Week.
“We hope the community will join us for a day of fun activities and demonstrations at our Open House,” Chief Charest said. “This is an opportunity for families to come together and enjoy the day while also learning important safety tips just in time for National Fire Prevention Week.”

WHAT:
In recognition of Fire Prevention Week, the Avon Fire Department is hosting an Open House featuring family activities and demonstrations. The event is open to all and free to attend.
National Fire Prevention Week, recognized Oct. 6-12 this year, is organized by the National Fire Protection Association to educate the public about simple but important ways to keep themselves and those they live with safe. This year’s campaign is “Smoke alarms: Make them work for you!™”
During the Open House, guests will be able to meet the firefighters and enjoy demonstrations and interactive activities. They include:
- Fire demonstration
- Touch-a-truck
- Children’s evacuation practice with a trailer simulating smoke conditions
- Station tours
Refreshments will also be served at the event.
