AVON — Fire Chief David Charest reports that the Avon Fire Department and mutual aid partners extinguished a working fire in a detached garage on Saturday afternoon.
On Saturday, Aug. 10, at approximately 12:55 p.m., the Avon Fire Department was called to 27 Walnut Terrace for a report of a structure fire.
Companies arrived to find smoke and fire showing from a detached garage, and quickly stretched a hose line to attack the fire. The fire was knocked down and brought under control within about 15 minutes.
Firefighters from Holbrook and Stoughton provided mutual aid at the scene. Avon Police assisted with traffic and crowd control. The Avon Electrical Inspector responded to the scene to inspect the home’s electrical system.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Avon Fire Department and the Massachusetts State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit attached to the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
