The Holbrook Regional Emergency Communications Center (HRECC) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a substantial grant of $20,883,162 from the Massachusetts State 911 Department. This grant, part of the Fiscal Year 2025 State 911 Department Regional Public Safety Answering Point and Regional Secondary Public Safety Answering Point and Regional Emergency Communications Center Development Grant Program, will significantly enhance HRECC’s capabilities and support public safety efforts across multiple communities.
The grant will fund various initiatives aimed at improving emergency response services. These include professional services to examine the regional center’s operations and benefits and a cybersecurity testing program. Additionally, funds will be allocated for transition awards to support the integration of several towns into HRECC, including Rockland, Abington, Sherborn, Norwood, Holliston, Stoughton, Sudbury, Fairhaven and East Bridgewater.
This funding will also bolster security measures for fire departments in Holliston, East Bridgewater, Stoughton, Fairhaven and Sudbury. Moreover, the grant will facilitate the acquisition of critical equipment necessary to enhance 911 services.
“We are incredibly grateful for this generous grant from the Massachusetts State 911 Department,” said HRECC Director Steve Hooke. “This funding will enable us to strengthen our emergency response infrastructure further, ensuring we can provide the highest level of service to our communities. The support will also enhance our cybersecurity measures, which are crucial in today’s digital landscape.”
The grant contract will begin on July 1 and run through June 30, 2025. This funding will be utilized following the Development Grant Guidelines to ensure that all initiatives are aligned with the provision of enhanced 911 services.
“HRECC is committed to leveraging these funds to improve our operational capabilities and ensure the safety and well-being of our residents,” said Director Hooke. “We look forward to the positive impact these enhancements will have on our public safety efforts.”
